Contemplative Seeing Workshops

Art of Divine Sight Outings  (1/2 day)

Most everything we take pictures of is a metaphor for something going on inside of us. Our outer world reflects our inner being-ness. When we deepen our seeing and our vision through mindfulness practices the connect between our worlds deepens and comes into focus. Combining contemplation with conscious seeing we ground into the present moment, activate our intuition and learn to see through the lens of our eyes, mind and heart, opening to our pure potentiality, wisdom and insight.   The camera is an instrument for teaching people to see without a camera. – Dorothea Lange

Creative Audience Salons  (2-4 hour sessions)

Zen photographers Minor White and John Daido Loori, Roshi challenge us to see what else there is in a picture or a piece of art. So often we look and make a snap judgement of either liking or disliking an piece. What is there that creates that instant response, that more than meets the eye? Through a guided meditation process we will look at images and learn what about them ignites a spark of emotion or evokes thoughtfulness within you and other viewers.   At first glance a photograph can inform us. At second glance it can reach us. – Minor White
